Initial Meeting

Programming begins with an intake session that includes a coach, student, and parent(s)/caregiver(s). The intake session helps us to explore what is going well for the student, current challenges, strategies and skills that require enhancement, and what success might look like. Goals are established, knowledge gaps are identified, and the student’s learning needs are integrated into our support.

Study Space

Students at the centre have access to a specialized, two-hour, afterschool group session where mentors help them put their planning and skills into action. The focus of the supervised Study Space is to help students develop habits and routines while engaging in schoolwork and practicing their strategies and approaches. Many of our students struggle with the self-regulation necessary to initiate plans and follow through on their own; they benefit from the support of a mentor at the “point of performance.” During Study Space, students work on class assignments and projects, complete homework, study for upcoming tests, create study-ready class notes, plan ahead and organize. Feedback is provided to the parent after each session to facilitate follow-up work at home. Students can attend an unlimited number of sessions.

Evoke Tutor Connect

Students who need access to a personal tutor while completing their work can utilize Tutor Connect during Study Space sessions. Through Tutor Connect, clients have access to immediate online tutoring support. Tutor Connect gives students the ability to request mobile tutoring support while at Study Space, at home, or in another location, and on an ad-hoc or scheduled basis. Tutoring is available up to 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Math Lab

Students who struggle with math can access a separate Math Lab at the centre. This group program offers a 1:4 teacher-student ratio to students who need help with current homework and math concepts. Our teachers help clients remediate identified learning gaps, move ahead in the curriculum, and learn important self-help, study, and organizational strategies. A diagnostic session to identify student-learning needs is available outside of Math Lab at the client’s request.
